Big Mike — Michael Arnone

Michael Arnone, known professionally as Big Mike, is a contemporary American painter based in Palm Springs, California. His work is recognized for its dynamic synthesis of geometry, color, and emotional intensity — a signature style that bridges mid-century modern sensibility with sacred geometry and lived experience.

From a young age, Mike found refuge and expression through drawing and painting, developing a lifelong fascination with geometric concepts, architectural rhythm, and abstract expression. Over decades, this fascination evolved into a distinct visual language: layered, tactile, and deeply felt.

His artistic journey has been shaped by a rich tapestry of personal experience — from life in Venice Beach’s creative communities to transformative global travels. These experiences inform his work, infusing contemporary abstraction with cultural nuance, emotional depth, and a sense of place.

In Palm Springs, the desert’s ferocious light, striking modern architecture, and storied history have become central motifs in Mike’s practice.

Here, he expands mid-century geometry into expansive abstract worlds — compositions built from smudges, swirls, whips, and hatches that echo both landscape and inner narrative.

Big Mike’s paintings have been exhibited and collected locally and internationally, and his gallery and studio in The Lofts Art District serve as a gathering place for art lovers, designers, and collectors alike. Each work invites the viewer into a dynamic interplay between form, emotion, and the endless possibilities of abstraction.
